The Riciclini are the beating heart of the Kernel project: unique objects born from the transformation of waste materials into sustainable design creations. Each Riciclino is the result of an artisanal process that combines aesthetics, creativity and, in many cases, technology. Some are equipped with smart components and interactive functions, others are conceived as symbolic or decorative pieces, capable of transmitting a powerful message on sustainability, the art of reuse and the value of second chances.
Their hybrid nature, halfway between art and innovation, allows them to respond to different needs: there is the Riciclino designed to interact with the home environment via sensors and microcontrollers, but also the one designed to furnish, to excite or to educate, without necessarily having a digital function. What each piece has in common is the design intent: to give new dignity to discarded materials, transforming them into valuable objects, full of meaning and beauty.
Ogni Riciclino racconta una storia diversa: c’è chi era un vecchio contenitore industriale, chi una scheda elettronica dimenticata, chi un componente recuperato da un elettrodomestico in disuso. Regenerated through a creative and sustainable approach, these materials reinvent themselves as small totems of change: objects that make you think, furnish with personality or offer new functions thanks to technology.
The Riciclini collection is aimed at those looking for an alternative to anonymous and standardized consumption. It is designed for those who love to surround themselves with objects that speak, that have a soul, that bear witness to a concrete gesture towards a new idea of living, more aware and poetic.
L’autrice: Luana Galluccio
Pharmacist, artist and innovator in the field of sustainability and smart city, Luana Galluccio is the creative mind behind Riciclini. Graduated in Pharmacy, she works at the university spin-off Smart City Instruments of the University of Calabria, where she conducted research on smart cities, renewable energy and waste treatment for energy generation. At the same time, she distinguished herself as director and screenwriter of the short film Voglio le Snaik (Bad Shoes), which won several awards at film festivals, including the Giffoni Film Festival (Youth Media Market), the Videocorto Nettuno (Best Film), the Skepto Film Festival (Best Direction), the Trebaseleghe International Film Festival (Best Story and Screenplay) and was a finalist at the Puglia Film Festival. As a painter, she prefers the female subject, a symbol of resilience and rebirth. His work combines science, art and technology to promote a new integrated and sustainable vision of contemporary living.
Each Riciclino tells a different story: some were an old industrial container, some a forgotten electronic board, some a component recovered from a disused household appliance. Regenerated through a creative and sustainable approach, these materials reinvent themselves as small totems of change: objects that provoke reflection, furnish with personality, or offer new functions thanks to technology.
